My name is Gergő Kókai, a Hungarian font engineer and type designer based in Berlin.
After studying Graphic Design in the UK and France, I completed a year-long internship at Fontshop International in Berlin in 2015, and joined Alphabet Type as a font engineer the following year. In 2017, I took part in the TDi program in Reading (UK), and in 2025, I graduated from the Type and Media master’s program at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague.
As a font engineer at Alphabet Type, I’ve been responsible for troubleshooting as well as working on both library and custom font productions. On the other hand, my design practice explores the tactile and sculptural nature of letterforms—most recently through a series of 3D-printed typographic experiments. I’m currently preparing a limited production run of these 3D letters.
